Weapons can be different type of items. These can vary depending on the intended class of them; but ultimately, they are all the "same" if you meet their requirements. The weapon types are,

Requirements
Some items may have requirements such as classes or levels. This can easily be seen using the lore of the weapon. If you don't meet the requirement you may not be able to use your special abilities using it either.
